Safari originally comes from the Swahili-speaking people in East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) and means an overland expedition, especially one for hunting or exploring in eastern Africa and there are many people that believe you can only go on a true safari in East Africa. But the word Safari has become more broadly used and can mean anything from big game viewing, photography, or even game hunting.
