Whilst the list of countries and locations in this guide is not definitive, I have written about some of the places that I have been to and know of and in this way I hope that some of my experience helps you to find exactly what you are looking for in your holiday.
From inland savanah, to desert, forest and marine environments, South Africa has a huge selection of National Parks and private game reserves that are home to all the african wildlife you could hope to see, from Elephants to Whales. A safe, clean and sunshine-filled country, landlocked Botswana has been described as "Africa's success story and is home to some of Africas greatest and unique wildlife destinations: the incomparable Okavango Delta, a great green oasis in the heart of the Kalahari desert, the Chobe National Park, Chobe River, Limpopo river, Makarikari Salt Pans and Lake Ngami.

The Gambia may not have the big game of other classic safari destinations, but it does have the advantage of being much closer to Europe making the travel far cheaper. The Gambia river that runs the length of the country is home to a wide variety of animals including Hippo and over 70 chimpanzees. It is also a birders paradise with over 570 species, it offers an exciting introduction to African birdwatching and is an ever popular destination for experienced Birders who flock back year after year.
